Dist. 124 Bids Bittersweet Farewell to Retiring Cyndi Luchtenburg

After 30 years of turning into enthusiastic learners, Cyndi Luchtenburg is retiring at the end of the year.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Southwest Elementary School bid a bittersweet farewell to Cyndi Luchtenburg, who after 30 years of working with special education students, will retire on June 2. Luchtenburg has been with Evergreen Park Elementary Dist. 124 since 1993. Through her decades of service with D124’s Student Support Services program, she has helped students blossom into enthusiastic learners and fostered a love for school among her young charges. Colleagues and students paid tribute to Luchtenburg in a retirement video.

Luchtenburg is most looking forward to being on her own clock in her retirement and her conversations with five- and six-year-olds. Future plans include travel with Ronald, her husband of 34 years, enjoying her second passion of gardening, and maybe a Cubs’ World Series repeat.

Good luck, Mrs. Luchtenburg. Your students were lucky to have you.
