EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Evergreen Park Community High School Dist. 231 has inked a deal to purchase the Evergreen Park Racquet and Fitness Club. The purchase was approved by the D231 Board of Education. The 94,000-square-foot facility will be used as an indoor sports complex for EPCHS students.

Dist. 231 purchased the facility at 2700 W. 91st St. for $1.5 million using existing capital funds, therefore, and is not expected to negatively impact residents’ property tax bills. The facility will be used for physical education classes, student athletes, marching band and color guard. It will also be available for Dist. 231 feeder programs, community members and other outside groups.

Administrators are currently working with ongoing programs already in place at the facility as they transition it to EPCHS programs. In the future, proposed upgrades will include a turf field and an indoor track, district officials said in a news release. Future proposed upgrades include a turf field and an indoor track.

“The Board of Education continues to keep students a priority! Our student programs will now have an indoor space,” D231 Supt. Tom O’Malley said. “This is a win-win for the entire school community.”
