Electronics, Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Planned Saturday In EP
The Village of Evergreen Park will host an electronics and hazardous waste drop-off Saturday, May 11, at the Evergreen Park Senior Center.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL —If old, unused electronics and hard-t0-get-rid-of hazardous materials are cluttering up your garage or basement, dispose of them in an environmentally-friendly manner this Saturday, May 11, at Evergreen Park’s dropoff event.
Bring your old stuff over to the Evergreen Park Senior Center, 9547 S. Homan Ave. from 9 to 11 a.m. The drop-off is for Evergreen Park residents only, and proof-of-residency may be required.
ACCEPTABLE ELECTRONIC ITEMS: TVs (2 per household), VCRs/DVDs, computers/laptops, monitors, printers, keyboards, inkjet/toner cartridges, video game consoles, internet/portable music players, cameras, cell phones, cell phones/telephone equipment, speakers/stereos, microwaves and holiday lights.

ACCEPTABLE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE: Acids, adhesives, aerosol products, antifreeze, auto fluids, ballasts (PCB), batteries (sump, power tools and household sizes), blacktop sealant, cleaning products, cooking oil, drain cleaners, fluorescent bulbs (limit 10), gasoline and oil/gas mixtures, HID lightbulbs (headlight bulbs), lawn chemicals, mercury-containing devices (thermostats, thermometers), motor oil, oil based paints, stains and varnishes (no latex), paint thinners, pesticides, poisons, herbicides, insecticides and pool chemicals.
NON-ACCEPTABLE HAZARDOUS WASTE ITEMS: Latex paint (not hazardous), acetylene cylinders, agricultural waste (anything used in a commercial application), ammunition, explosives, fireworks, biological/medical wastes (biohazards), farm machinery oil, fire extinguishers, institutional waste, propane tanks, radioactive material, smoke detectors, syringes/needles.
