EP Gears Up For First 'Normal' Independence Day Since Pandemic

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Evergreen Park is gearing up for its first normal Independence Day festivities in two years since the pandemic. The parade steps off promptly at 6:30 p.m. July 1, followed by fireworks at Duffy Park.

Evergreen Park’s own Abbey Murphy, the USA Women’s Hockey Team Silver Medalist, has been tapped as Grand Marshal.

The parade lines up at 95th Street and Springfield Avenue, before heading east on 95th Street to Richmond Avenue, and north on Richmond to 91st Street, where the parade disbands. Thousands flock to Evergreen Park's Independence Day Parade, which is considered one of the best in the south suburbs.

Kids and teens in grades 5-12 can show their patriotic pride by representing the Evergreen Park Youth Department in the parade. Sign up at the youth department, 3450 W. 97th St., by Thursday. Questions? Call 708-229-3377.

Members of the Armed Forces, past or present, are respectfully invited to lead the parade and are invited to a pre-parade reception. Let the village know you’re coming by calling 708-229-3373.

After the parade, head over to Duffy Park, 92nd Street and Millard Avenue, for fireworks, blasting off at dusk.
