EP Library Invites Teens To Black History Month Reading Challenge

Dr. Natalie Page kicks off Black History Month at the Evergreen Park Library, Monday, Jan. 30 with a curated list of Black literary voices.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Public Library challenges teens, ages 12 to 18, to embark on a month-long reading challenge for Black History Month. Teens and adults are invited to “An Evening with Dr. Natalie Page,” to kick off a “lit” Black History Month at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30.

Saint Xavier University’s chief diversity officer Page will present a thoughtful and
intentionally curated list of books that amplify Black voices in literature.

“Reading is the key to expanding your knowledge and experience of different cultural groups,” Page said. “During Black history month take some time to read, reflect, and learn more about varying Black perspectives and experiences. This list highlights the wide range of black history—including our struggles and victories; all with the intention of helping to expand your framework on black history and its pronounced impact on our country and the world.”
