Summer is coming and the Rec Department is ready!
We are rolling into Summer and the Evergreen Park Recreation Department has been preparing for these glorious days since the cold days of January! The team in the Rec Department has just released their 2024 Summer Program Book and it is chock full of fun programs, events, classes and activities.
Free Summer Concerts In The Parks series begins again on Sunday, June 9 at 6pm at Klein (Circle) Park as The StingRays return to the green for a beautiful summer night of music.
Other bands on tap for this popular concert series include Coax and Folks, The Neverly Brothers, Smiley Tillmon, Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones, and of course, the City Lights Orchestra.

Concerts take place at Circle Park and Sexton Park (91st and Rockwell), so check the back page of the program book for the schedule!
Evergreen Park is home to one of the biggest parades around, and the 2024 edition will take place on Friday, June 28, kicking off at 6:30pm, followed by fireworks at Duffy Park.
There is a lot for kids to do this summer, even if they are not involved in baseball. The Rec Department offers a wide variety of summer day camps, dance camps, basketball, volleyball and soccer camps.
Additionally, single-day programs are available, such as Arts and Craft Classes, Cooking, Magic, Youth Drama and more.
Who said summer was just for the kids? Adult exercise classes continue, with an array of Yoga, Cycling, Strength, and of course, the newest trend….Pickleball! This has been a hit since the opening of the new Maplewell Center, our new sports facility located in the former Jacob’s Well/Park Lane Church building at 3450 W. Maple, just kiddy-corner from the Community Center.
The 2024 Summer Program Book is available online at www.evergreenpark-ill.com, and you can pick up hard copies at the Community Center or the Village Hall. An added convenience is that you can sign up for programs online!
The book also contains information on summer programming with the Youth Department and the Office of Citizen Services, which will be covered very soon in upcoming articles.
And, of course, all the neighborhood parks are open and available for your enjoyment:
Circle Park (97th and Homan)
James J. Sexton Park (91st and Rockwell)
Bejcek Park (90th and Albany)
