EP Youth Department Successful Coat Drive

The Evergreen Park Youth Department recently completed 2023 with a flurry of activities, including another successful season for its Annual Fall Coat Drive.

Ms. Pyeisha Allen, Youth Director, happily announced that 497 items were collected in the drive that began in October. Among the collection was 265 coats for adults, 53 for children, as well as 179 winter wear accessory items, such as gloves, boots, scarves, etc.

“This season, we had a wonderful partnership with the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation, who picked up and delivered the needed winterwear for distribution to low income families in the Auburn Gresham area,” Ms. Pyeisha stated. “The people of Evergreen Park responded to the need, as they always do, and we are truly grateful.” Ms. Pyeisha also extends a thank you to Congressman Sean Casten for visiting the Community Center to donate to the Coat Drive this year.

The Evergreen Park Youth Department, located in Room 105 of the Evergreen Park Community Center at 3450 W. 97th Street, continuously offers outreach activities like this, as well as fellowship programs for the youths of Evergreen Park from grades five to twelve. The Youth Center/Game Room is open Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm, with special programs and classes along the way.

In fact, the Department has a list of EP Youth babysitters, who were recently certified through classes offered by the American Academy of Pediatrics. “So, if you need a babysitter for a few hours, we are very happy to accommodate you,” Ms. Pyeisha added. “We also have a list of local youths who are available for light snow shoveling if you need it. Please call us!”
