EPCHS Art Students Participate in The Memory Project
Participants create portraits to help children know that many people care about their well-being.
The Drawing and Studio Advanced Art students at Evergreen Park Community High School recently created portraits of children from the Philippines through an organization called the Memory Project. EPCHS art students included: Lucy Bailey, Richard Corona, Emily Doran, Chyna Ellis, Ailyn Esquivel, Emily Geary, Naya Gilmore, TaKyla Hull, Mia Ortega, Grace Peart, Abel Pedraza, Ocean Reed, Emily Smith, Erika Swartz, Emily Vazquez-Gonzalez, Dominic Williams, and Quetzalli Zarate. The Drawing and Studio Advanced Art class is taught by Ms. Sandy Safranek.
The Memory Project is a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers, art students, and solo artists to help cultivate global kindness by creating portraits for children around the world who have faced substantial challenges such as violence, war, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents. Participants create these portraits to help children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well-being, and to provide a special childhood memory in the future. Since 2004 more than 130,000 portraits for children in 47 countries have been created. Our students have been creating portraits for this organization for several years.
