EPCHS FBLA Students Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House
They made the food then served it to the families staying at the house or in the hospital with their child.
On December 2, the Evergreen Park Community High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students volunteered at Ronald McDonald House. The students, including Michael Klier, Jake McMullin, Julietta O'Connor, Hannah Ortell, Frank Ostry, Siobhan Power, Lauren Quinn, Dasiah Ray and Leah Thomas, made Italian beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes, salad, cookies, fruit and lemonade. They then served dinner to the families staying at the house and packed to-go plates for families that were staying in the hospital with their child.
According to the Ronald McDonald House Corporation website, “Volunteers make the difference in the lives of all the families that come through our doors – cooking, hosting, listening, nurturing, or by simply being there and helping out in any way they can. In fact, RMHC is supported by 536,213 volunteers who dedicate their time, talent and resources to RMHC helping to offset costs and allowing the Charity to direct more donations back to programs supporting children and their families.”
FBLA Sponsor Scott Pasek said, “In FBLA we discuss social responsibility in businesses, so seeing the students being accountable and fulfilling their own social responsibility is very rewarding.” The EPCHS FBLA has been going to RMH once a year for 7 years now, as an opportunity to give back in a small way.
