EPCHS Honors Veterans at 12th Annual Breakfast Event
The breakfast was hosted by the National Honor Society and entertainment was provided by the EPCHS Choir.
Area military veterans were the guests of honor at Evergreen Park Community High School's 12th Annual Veterans Breakfast held on Friday, November 8. The breakfast was hosted by the National Honor Society and entertainment was provided by the EPCHS Choir, directed by Mrs. Amy Kazin. State Representative Kelly Burke and Superintendent O'Malley also took part in honoring our veterans on this special occasion.
Veterans enjoyed the morning and students were grateful to have the opportunity to meet with them. The guests of honor talked about the people they met during their service, shared their experiences, and noted how important it is to honor our country. NHS Sponsor Ben Nesler said, "We are always thrilled to welcome our local veterans as well as relatives of students and staff who have served in the armed forces. I have had the privilege of getting to know many of our returning guests. Their spirit and humor are infectious. The NHS students had a priceless opportunity to hear what real sacrifice was like and get a sense of the adventure, bravery and sometimes fear, that these men and women lived with while defending our country."
Drama Director Amy Kazin had a special request for the veterans this year. She asked them to bring pictures of themselves in uniform while in the service for inclusion into this year's winter play, Christmas By Remote Control. The play includes a segment where real veterans will be honored during the play. It takes place December 13, 14 & 15. Additional information can be found here.
