EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Eduardo Antunez, a junior at Evergreen Park Community High School, was named the ninth and final recipient of Chicago Bears Community High School All-Star award for the 2023 season.

The Community High School All-Star award, sponsored by Athletico Physical Therapy, recognizes nine high school football players from March through May who are making a positive impact in their community and at their school.

Antunez was selected for his contributions to his community. As an active volunteer with the Evergreen Park Stallions youth football team, Antunez devotes significant amounts of his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes. He is an integral part of this youth athletic organization, which teaches children not only the sport of football but also important life skills such as teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship.

Antunez is also a member of the EPCHS National Honor Society and has participated in various community service projects, including organizing Toys for Tots and assisting at the veterans breakfast.

In addition to his community service work, Antunez is also an accomplished student athlete. As the starting defensive end on the varsity football team for three years running, Antunez has been a crucial member of the team's success. The EPCHS Mustangs made playoff runs two years in a row, with Eduardo's exceptional athletic ability and leadership playing a key role in their success. Antunez is also a state qualifying wrestler at the 220lb division and helped the EP Mustangs win their conference title this year. Academically, Eduardo excels with a 3.75 GPA and has shown dedication to his studies as he prepares for his final year of high school.

Each Community High School All-Star award recipient will receive a custom hand-painted football, gift bag and an invitation to a future Bears event. The Bears will also make a $500 donation to the charitable organization of the player’s choosing.
