EPCHS Senior Leads Discussion On Minority Representation In Animation
Evergreen Park Community High School senior Canaan McCadd shares passion for animation and importance of having diverse characters.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL – In Art Club at Evergreen Park Community High School earlier this
month, senior Canaan McCadd taught the students about minority representation in animation.
Canaan shared his passion for animation as well as the importance of having diverse character
representations with a multitude of traits.
To demonstrate to the art club the importance of the problem, he gave both positive and
negative examples.
After his presentation, art club students shared their own thoughts and incorporated what they
learned into character designs. The topic idea was part of a writing prompt on ‘Being the
Change’ in Canaan’s college writing class, and art the club was happy to be included in his project.
