EPCHS Senior Nellie O’Grady Receives Chick Evans Scholarship

Nellie is the daughter of Martin and Diane O'Grady.

Evergreen Park Community High School Senior Nellie O’Grady has received a Chick Evans Scholarship. She is the daughter of Martin and Diane O'Grady.

Nellie, a caddie at Beverly Country Club, is enrolled in Honors and AP courses at EPCHS, and currently ranks 4th in her Senior class. She is very active in school as a member of the Volleyball Team, Student Government, National Honor Society, School Musicals, Science Olympiad, and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

“Nellie has applied to colleges and is waiting to hear back from them,” according to Counselor Tom Eisenbraun. “Knowing Nellie's tremendous academic and extra-curricular record, she's going to have several great options.” He added, “I have been fortunate to work with Nellie as a counselor and a volleyball coach, and I couldn't be more thrilled for her to receive the Evans Scholarship. Her extraordinary work ethic and leadership skills truly stand out in the classroom, on the court, and beyond. In addition, she is one of the nicest and most genuine students you'll ever meet.”

Since 1930, the Chick Evans Foundation has awarded nearly 11,000 scholarships for full tuition and housing college scholarships to hardworking caddies with limited financial means. The Foundation, sponsored by the Western Golf Association, is named in honor of amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans, Jr. Evans was the first amateur to win the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur in one year.
