Congratulations to Kathleen Jacobson and Joseph Donnelly for being recognized as 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Award recipients. Kathleen is the recipient of a Certificate of Excellence, which signifies that she was among the Top 10% of all applicants from the State of Illinois in this year’s program.

Kathleen and fellow student, Joseph Donnelly have both qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country.

Both students have been committed to community service throughout their high school career. Kathleen has had many volunteer opportunities, however, the one that is most notable is the many hours she provided volunteering for the Annual Golf Outing since she was 5 years old. Joseph too, has spent many hours volunteering and has volunteered one week every summer with his church group for three years in a row rehabbing houses in Harlan, Kentucky.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state and national level. Thus far, it has recognized more than 130,000 young people who have made a difference and inspired countless others to consider how they might contribute to their communities.
