Assisi Rosso DOC 2009 by gls $7 Btl $28 To go $15

Wine Description
Falesco Assisi Rosso is crafted from 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The picturesque setting and exposure of the hillside Umbrian vineyards, with perfectly draining volcanic soil, provide ideal ripening conditions. This rich blend produces a wine that is at once full of structure yet completely accessible.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in color, this Umbrian palate-pleaser is brimming with youthful notes of ripe berry, plum and cherry. On the palate, it is crisp and light with refreshing acidity and mild tannins. This wine makes an ideal match with spicy chorizo, tomato-sauced dishes, as well as game and steak tartare.

Merlot IGT Umbria 2010 by gls $6 Btl $24 To go $13

Wine Description
For this monovarietal Merlot, Falesco hand-harvests grapes from the best estate vineyards in the hills around Orvieto, where the exposure and setting, together with the soil, are fundamental for perfect ripening. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel, aged in Nevers barrels for seven months and bottled without filtration in order to preserve all of its rich organoleptic character.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in color with sensual aromas of blackberry, tobacco and vanilla, which carry through on the palate into a lingering finish. Full-bodied and velvety, this wine pairs beautifully with mildly spicy entrees such as curried tagines or roast rack of lamb with mint chutney.

Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone DOC 2010 by
gls $5 Btl $20 To go $10

Wine Description
The legend follows that in the 12th century, a wine-loving bishop was traveling through the Italian countryside on his way to see the coronation of the Pope. As he traveled, he would send a scout ahead of the convoy to mark out sources of excellent wine by marking “est” (“it is”) above the door. As the scout traveled ahead to Montefiascone, the wine was apparently so good, that the scout marked that location with an “Est! Est!! Est!!!” Montefiascone remains an excellent wine today, particularly so when crafted by Cotarella, who blends 50% Trebbiano, 30% Malvasia and 20% Roscetto together for legendary results.

Tasting Notes
Delicate straw-yellow in color, the nose offers playful aromas of citrus, apple and white flowers. On the palate, its crisp profile is balanced with soft flavors of pear and melon. Excellent as an aperitif, this wine also pairs very well with simple grilled fish or chicken entrees.
