Evergreen Park Boys Basketball Wins First Regional Title Since 1973

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — For the first time in 50 years, Evergreen Park boys basketball has won the regional championship Friday, advancing to the sectionals in their march to IHSA’s Sweet 16.

The Mustangs notched a 74-60 home win over Hillcrest High School. Tre Dowdell led the way for Evergreen Park with 32 points, as Ulises Cardenas added 13 and Lonnie Mosley had 10.

This marks the first regional boys basketball championship that Evergreen Park Community High School has won since 1973-1974.

The win puts the Mustangs at 22-10 overall on the season and a match-up with top-seeded Thornton Wildcats. Game time 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Thornton Township High School, 15001 Broadway Ave., Harvey.
