Inspired by the Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland musicals of the 1940s, the story follows a group of talented youths who reside at the Garland Music Academy. When the greedy old banker decides to foreclose on the property, the kids pull together to “put on a show” in an effort to save the school.

Complications develop when a con man -- on the run from a gangster -- hides out on the property. When the kids mistake him for a Broadway director, he goes along with the disguise, befriends the young folks, and brings new hope to the Academy.

Their Big Show is going to be a hit, until the mistaken identities, romantic entanglements and the arrival of the Gangster threaten to shut down the Garland Academy for good.

Loaded with great Broadway songs, screwball comedy, and a touch of sentimentality, this will be a ride you’ll not soon forget.

“Say It With Music” is written and directed by Glenn Pniewski, who also happens to be the village’s public information officer, and choreographed by Jessica Patrick, and features a local cast loaded with talent.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $5 for children ages 5-10. Tickets for the June 14 dinner and show are $22 for adults; $19 for seniors and students ; and $12 for children 5-10. Non-dinner seating is also available on June 14.

The village’s performing arts group is a program of the Evergreen Park Recreation Department.
