The event was held in conjunction with the Northern Illinois Science Educators (NISE) and the South Suburban Science Supervisors (S4).
On Thursday, April 4, Evergreen Park Community High School hosted a Spring Science Workshop in conjunction with the Northern Illinois Science Educators (NISE) and the South Suburban Science Supervisors (S4). The event was free and open to science teachers from all over the Chicagoland area, who were interested in sharing ideas and honing their teaching skills.
The workshop went from 5:30-9:00 pm and had 21 presentations from science teachers and keynote speakers, Dr. Mark Hammergren and Dr. Geza Gyuk, from the Adler Planetarium. Approximately 100 teachers attended the workshop, which was full of networking and sharing ideas amongst teachers from a wide variety of schools, subjects, and grade levels.
Teachers attending the workshop received Professional Development hours and enjoyed hours of science activities. Raffle prizes were given out and included items such as coffee mugs, laboratory manuals, science supplies, and microscopes. It was a GREAT night for those in attendance!
