Evergreen Park Community High School Mathletes Headed For State
EPCHS will send several students to the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics state contest on April 30.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL – Evergreen Park Community High School will send several students to the state math competition next month.
The following students and teams from EPCHS have qualified for the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics state contest that will be held on Saturday, April 30:
- The Junior/Senior 8-person team of Helen Joyce, David Ortiz, John Bledsoe, Lexi Elwood, Zach Meyer and Cristina Ocampo, who placed first at the regional held over the final weekend of February.
- The Calculator team of freshman Margaret Joyce, sophomore Owen Doogan, junior Helen Joyce and senior Cristina Ocampo, who also placed first at regional.
- Freshmen Lilli Gleason and Jack Schaller, who tied for second place in Algebra 1.
- Juniors Helen Joyce and David Ortiz, who tied for third place in Algebra 2.
- Senior John Bledsoe, who placed third in Precalculus.
As a team, the EPCHS Mathletes placed second overall at their regional. While EP did not qualify the entire team for the state math contest, other non-state qualifying performers stood out, including the freshman Algebra 1 team of Jack Schaller, Lilli Gleason, Margaret Joyce and Luke O’Malley, who placed second; the sophomore Geometry team of Thomas Jarosz-Gobby, Colleen McCarthy, Saanvi Patel, Owen Doogan, Rachel Thomas and Titus Morgan, who placed second; and oralists David Ortiz and John Bledsoe, who placed second in their presentation on Logarithms.
