Evergreen Park Girls Softball 12U Team Wins State Championship, Heads to Regionals

The Evergreen Park Girls Softball League 12U team will be holding a car wash fund raiser this Saturday, July 22, at Most Holy Reedmer.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Evergreen Park’s youth ballplayers are on FIRE with another team headed to the regionals for a possible berth in a world series. This time, it’s the 12U team from the Evergreen Park Girls Softball Little League, who won their state championship in Elgin last Monday.

The 12-year-old all-stars -- who’ve named themselves the “Evergreen Park Electric” -- are headed to Indianapolis, IN, for the Central Regionals, where they will be playing teams from nine other Midwestern states for a shot at playing in the girls’ fastpitch softball Little League World Series in Portland, OR..

“They can’t wait,” proud mom Julie Racz said, whose daughter, Maura, wears No. 9. “They’re very excited to be staying in a hotel.”

To help with expenses, the state champs will be holding a carwash this Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 9525 Lawndale Ave, Evergreen Park. The team is asking for a small donation per each vehicle, so bring your filthy car over there.

We wish these young ladies all the luck in the world on the road to Portland. Go get ‘em, girls.
