Evergreen Park HS Celebrates Homecoming With A Parade And A Win

EVERGREEN PARK, IL Residents lined the parade route for Evergreen Park Community High School’s 2021 homecoming parade on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs’ marching band set a jaunty pace as the high school’s teams, clubs, homecoming court and floats marched through village streets.

The candy was flying as participants threw it to the future Mustangs eagerly waiting curbside with open bags. Mayor Kelly Burke walked the sidelines nicely handing out candy to the kids. Some kids walked off with a pretty good haul.

The Mustangs have been celebrating homecoming all week with theme days and float making. A teacher told Patch she was impressed by the turnout of residents who came to watch the parade this year after a year spent cooped up during the pandemic.

There was a fair share of alumni, many who still reside in the village, being true to their school. Once a Mustang, always a mustang.

Patch caught two angles of the Mustangs’ promenade through the neighborhood on Facebook Live. The Evergreen Park Mustangs pulled out a squeaker over the Argo Arognauts in the evening’s varsity football matchup 14-13..
