Evergreen Park Library Bolsters Resources For Job Seekers

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Public Library has made its job resources more robust to help residents who’ve become jobless during the pandemic. Thanks to a grant from the Best Buy Foundation, job hunters who have an Evergreen Park library card can log on to JobNOW through the library website and work one on one with a job coach.

The U.S. Labor Department reported 13.6 million Americans were unemployed at the end of August, and an increasingly large share of Americans reported their jobs are gone for good.

Through JobNOW online job coaching, personal resume reviews and complimentary professional headshots. The library's marketing and public relations specialist Mary Black has also assembled a top-notch team of area professionals who will review every resume emails to adultservices@evergreenparklibary.org.

Need a nice headshot for LinkedIn? Library staff member and photographer Jenna Hart is scheduling 10-minute sittings from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, for complimentary professional digital headshots. Bring a flash drive to save your photos.

“Through no fault of their own, many people experienced job loss and income insecurity due to the pandemic,” library director Nicki Seidl said. “The Evergreen Park Library is here to support job seekers with resources for every step of their job search.”
