Evergreen Park Library Hosts Author Expo
More than 30 Chicago-area authors will convene at the Evergreen Park Library for a free Author Expo this Saturday, April 16.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Authors throughout the Chicago area will convene at the Evergreen Park Public Library for the second annual Author Expo.
The Expo runs from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, features 30 authors from a variety of genres, including fiction, mystery, romance and children’s literature.
Authors hail from Lake-in-the-Hills, Evergreen Park, Palatine, Alsip and Chicago Ridge. Some are self-published, while others have a publisher.

The Expo will also showcase three prominent authors who will be discussing their work.
Chicagoan Lori Rader-Day, whose debut mystery, The Black Hour, will discuss her work at 1 p.m. The Black Hour received the 2014 Anthony Award for Best First Novel. Her second novel, Little Pretty Things, named 2015’s “most arresting crime novel” by Kirkus Reviews.

Rader-Day will be joined by Susanna Calkins, whose 2013 mystery novel, A Murder at Rosamund’s Gate, was shortlisted for the Sue Feder Historical Mystery (Macavity) Award.
Since then Calkins has written three other mysteries in the series, From the Charred Remains and The Masque of a Murderer. The fourth in the series, A Death Along the River Fleet will be released this month. Calkins teaches at Northwestern University and resides with her family in Chicago’s suburbs.
Novelist Rebecca Makkai is the Chicago-based author of the short story collection, Music for Wartime and the novels The Hundred-Year House, winner of the Chicago Writers Association’s Novel of the Year award and The Borrower, a Booklist Top Ten Debut.
Her short fiction was chosen for The Best American Short Stories for four consecutive years (2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008). Makkai will discuss her work at 2 p.m.
