Evergreen Park Sweeps Three Matches on Links

Marist's cross country team started the conference season with a second-place finish and Evergreen's girls volleyball squad finished 10th at the Oak Lawn Classic.

’s boys golf team won its three dual matches last week, beating Rich South, Reavis and Shepard on consecutive days.

Nick Moran led the Mustangs in their 171-215 win over Rich South by shooting a 38. Moran tied Trevor Mlot for medalist honors against Reavis with a 42.

The Mustangs edged Shepard 182-189 to cap their three-game winning streak.

Girls Volleyball: Mustangs 10th at Oak Lawn Classic

Evergreen Park’s girls volleyball team went 2-3 over the weekend to take home 10th place at the Oak Lawn Volleyball Classic.

The Mustangs lost their first two games on Friday night, to Romeoville and T.F. South, but they rallied back on Saturday. They finished pool play with a solid 25-10, 25-20 win over Argo and then beat Reavis in a heated three-game match, 25-20, 21-25, 26-24, to get to the ninth-place match.

Bremen ended Evergreen Park’s two-match winning streak with a 25-23, 25-16 win over the Mustangs.

Oak Lawn finished in eighth place for the tournament. Providence took home the championship, beating Lincoln-Way North in the title match.

Boys Soccer: Marist Wins Twice

went 2-0 on the soccer field last week, defeating Providence and Marian Catholic, to improve its record to 6-5.

Pat Hehir, Dan Grand, Joe Gainer and Roger Ciszewski scored in Marist’s 4-2 win over Providence.

Ciszewski provided both goals in Marist’s 2-1 overtime win over Marian Catholic in the RedHawks’ East Suburban Catholic opener.

Girls Volleyball: Marist Suffers First Loss

After cruising through Pool B at the Wheaton Warrenville South Tournament last weekend, Marist lost for the first time all season, falling to Sandburg 20-25, 21-25 in the quarterfinals.

Marist rebounded to capture fifth place in the tournament, with Ashley Holder and Mallory Salis taking home all-tournament team honors.

Benet beat Hinsdale South in the tournament championship.

on Friday night.

Mustangs quarterback Brandon White was 14-for-25 for 213 yards and two TDs, while RB Victor Baker had 127 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. 

Boys Cross Country: Marist 2nd in Pre-Championship Meet

Marist’s boys cross country team finished second to Benet in the East Suburban Catholic Conference pre-championship race. Benet (38 points) outdistanced Marist (70) and St. Viator (75) for the title.

Kyle Hauser (15:27) finished second to Carmel’s K.J. Matuszak (15:23), while Cody Haberkom took fourth (15:34)

Scores count 40 percent toward a team’s final conference total. The other 60 percent comes from the ESCC championship in October.
