Evergreen Park Youth Present Holiday Musical 'Day Before Christmas'

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — It’s the day before Christmas at the North Pole. The elves, the reindeer, Suzy Snowflake, the forest animals, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, are preparing for their biggest night of the year.

And then there is Jack Frost, who has a crush on Suzy Snowflake. And when they have an argument, Jack becomes petulant and decides to freeze Christmas at the North Pole, seemingly preventing Santa and Reindeer from delivering toys.

Such is the story of :The Day Before Christmas,” the holiday youth musical presented by the Evergreen Park Recreation Department Candlelight Theatre, which opens up this weekend for three performances Dec. 8 through Dec. 10, in the auditorium at the EP Senior Center, 9547 S. Homan Avenue.

This spritely, bouncy musical is directed and choreographed by Evergreen Park’s Brianna Mooney, with musical direction by EP’s Cathi Diamond. The brisk story will appeal to youngsters and the young-at-heart.

The cast of local talent includes Hayden Boeschel, Tim Broniec, Arthur and Emmaline Collins,. Kevin Denny, Olivia Eckroth, Ava and Kendall Hermes, Krystyna and Maley Herrndoebler, Megan Klimowski, Caroline and Monica Konieczny, Molly Mangin, Grace and Maggie Nykaza, Eva Palhegyi, Mary Pniewski. Sylvia Roberton, Hannah Rohan, Evelyn Rojek, Evelyn Shimek, Ziggy Sochacki and Clare Wrobel.

The musical opens on Friday night, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m., with additional performances on Saturday, Dec. 9 show begins at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinee, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m.
