EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Bundle up and start packing snowballs. It’s time to get flakey at Evergreen Park’s Family Flake Fest this Saturday, Feb. 5. The village’s 19th annual Flake Fest runs from 1 to 6 p.m. at Yukich Fields, 89th Street and Kedzie Avenue. Unlike previous years' "climate change fests," Saturday's weather looks promising for ice skating at the Daniel Capuano Ice Rink.
Beat the winter blues by skating the afternoon away from 1 to 6 p.m. for FREE open skating on the ice rink. Kids can also sign up for Artie Kerr's Learn To Skate/Pre-Hockey Clinic, which takes place from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Registration for this can be done ahead of time at the Evergreen Park Community Center.
Jim Long will be creating an ice sculpture starting at 1 p.m. Evergreen Park Community High School will present the Snow Queen and her court from 2 to 2: 30 p.m., immediately followed by a performance by Those Funny Little People.
