Former Cheerleading Coach Charged With Second Retail Theft : Prosecutor

Evergreen Park woman was already on probation for a retail theft charge in July, prosecutor said.

A 40-year-old Evergreen Park woman is being held without bail after she was arrested for stealing items from a local supermarket, prosecutors said.

Nova Lynch, who is currently on probation for a retail theft that occurred in July, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a second charge.

Police were called for a retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, Oak Lawn, on Dec. 29. According to the charges, loss prevention agents observed Lynch putting cosmetics and grocery items into her purse. She left the cart inside the store and walked out without paying.

Loss prevention agents estimated the value of the merchandise at $109, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Lynch is a former cheerleading coach and the mother of three children.

Bail for the new charge is set at $30,000. Lynch is due back in court on Jan. 4.
