Gimme 5: Mother McAuley's O'Donnell Heading to St. Ambrose
Senior shortstop Erin O'Donnell shares her love of softball and how she first was introduced to the sport.
Despite a recent setback at the hands of Oak Forest, the Mother McAuley softball team is well on its way to a deep run in the IHSA playoffs. Standing at 18-5, the Mighty Macs have a plethora of talent, including senior shortstop and three-year varsity regular Erin O’Donnell.
O’Donnell started playing baseball when she was little, which transferred to softball when she was in sixth grade. The sport is in her blood with her dad being a former baseball player at Chicago State.
She loves softball. “I like that it’s so intense and that you’re always moving, and that you can always come back from behind,” O’Donnell said.
