Hometown Days Offers Weekend of Family Fun and Entertainment

Hometown's party in parking lot gets underway July 15-16, featuring kids' activities, great food and live music.

Hometown, IL -- Hometown’s party in a parking lot gets underway this weekend, July 15 and July 16, offering music, food, beer tent, a traveling reptile show and a visit from Disney princesses and Star Wars characters.

Hometown Days kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, with an evening of live music at the Hometown Shopping Plaza, 87th Street and Southwest Highway.

Friday’s featured bands include the McCartens playing 1950s and 1960s hits at 7 p.m., followed by Tynan at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Kennedy Compound takes the stage at 7 p.m., followed by New Element featuring Don Soto and Friends at 9 p.m.

Saturday is jam packed with activities for the kiddos, starting with a visit by Disney princesses from noon to 1 p.m., and Star Wars characters from 1 to 2 p.m.

Then hang around for the Traveling World of Reptiles Show from 2 to 3:15 p.m.

Rolling video games come out from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring six different systems that can accommodate 24 players at one time.

There is also the prerequisite face painting, bouncy houses, balloon art, cornhole for kids and a slip ‘n slide.

Featured food vendors for Hometown Days include Chuck’s BBQ, LaPlayita, Boy Scouts, Gourmet Delights, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Smilin’ Clyde’s Hot Dogs and Wicklow's Candy.
