'Living Library' Seeks Volunteers To Be 'Living Books'
Share your expertise and life experience as a "living book" for the Evergreen Park Library's "Living Library" on April 7.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Volunteers are invited to become “living books” for the "Living Library" at the Evergreen Park Public Library, 9400 S. Troy Ave. Share your expertise and life experience with patrons who “check you out” from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, on April 7.
What is a Living Book? A person who volunteers to share his or her background, interests, or perspective with library patrons, the "readers" who borrow them at the Living Library. Books come from all walks of life, who have experienced situations of awesomeness or adversity. They may represent groups in the community that have been subjected to stereotyping or misconception. Through respectful one-to-one conversation, the Living Library can grow to understand the experiences of others.
Living Libraries are popular in Europe. The libraries are based on the premise that every person on earth and in space, and all the things they create becomes part of a living library.
