Evergreen Park Cops Release Name Of Man Found Shot To Death In Walgreen's Parking Lot
Evergreen Park police believe the man was targeted. The investigation continues.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- Update, Jan. 6, 2017 -- Evergreen Park police have released the name of the man who was found shot in his car Thursday evening.
David T. Murrell, 34, of Chicago, was pronounced deceased at the scene when he was found shot to death in his car in the Walgreen's parking lot at 8700 S. Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 6:45 p.m. Jan. 5. Murrell was apparently already deceased when they arrived and found him shot inside his vehicle. Three males were seen running from the area.

Capt. Peter Donovan, of the Evergreen Park Police Department, said that investigators believe the Chicago man was targeted. There is no threat to the community.
The case remains under investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.

Original story, Jan. 5, 2017 -- A man was found shot to death in a car Thursday evening in a parking lot in Evergreen Park, police said in a news release.
Evergreen Park police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the Walgreens parking lot at 8700 S. Kedzie Ave. When police arrived at the scene, they were told that the man was inside a vehicle. The incident was reported at 6:45 p.m.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Witnesses said three male blacks were seen running from the area.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force has been activated and they are assisting the Evergreen Park Police Department.
A helicopter and police K-9s were brought out to assist in the search. The ice rink at Yukich Field was also evacuated Thursday evening, according to scanner traffic.
Police are not releasing the man’s identify pending notification of his family.
