March In Evergreen Park's 2019 Independence Day Parade

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- The Village of Evergreen Park, which distinguishes itself from surrounding communities by holding its "Fourth of July Parade" on July 3, is accepting applications for the village's 51st Independence Day Parade. The parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, from Pulaski Road and 95th Street, east on 95th Street to Richmond Avenue, and north on Richmond to 91st Street where the parade disbands.

The 2019 Independence Day Parade marks Evergreen Park's 51st patriotic parade. Dennis Duffy, celebrating his 50th year with the Evergreen Park Recreation Department, will be doing the Grand Marshall honors. Veterans around the region are also invited to march and/or wheeled in the parade as part of the "Hometown Heroes" segment.

Thousands flock to Evergreen Park's Independence Day Parade, which is considered one of the best in the southwest suburbs. Make a float, dress up your dog as Uncle Sam or Betsy Ross, form a marching group, decorate your bike or just wear a costume. Kids and adults are encouraged to participate and honor our country. Also, due to safety concerns there is no throwing candy or promotional items from cars or floats during the parade, however, marchers are welcome to politely and nicely hand out items to viewers on the sidelines.

Trophies and prizes will be given to the best entries.

Individuals, families, non-profit organizations, churches, scout troops and service clubs will be charged a $25 entry fee and $50 for businesses. Also, politicians will be charged $150 to take part in Evergreen Park's "Third of July" parade. This includes all incumbents, candidates and political organizations, which are considered separate entities. Entry fees are non-refundable.

Checks should be made payable to the Village of Evergreen Park, and mailed or dropped off along with completed applications to: Dennis Duffy, Chairman, 3540 W. 97th St., Evergreen Park, IL, 60805.

If you wish your entry to be announced as it passes the reviewing stand, include a 3X5 index card, typed or printed, along with your application.

And yes, fireworks will be shot off after the parade at dusk July 3, in Duffy Park, 9101 S. Ridgeway.
