Mustang Athlete Of The Week: Billy Gircus

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Billy Gircus, a sophomore on the Evergreen Park Community High School boys swim team, is this week’s Mustang Athlete of the Week. Gircus placed 5th in the 100 fly, 3rd in the 100 backstroke; 4th in the 100 breaststroke; and 6th in the freestyle. He won the 200 individual medley, which challenges a swimmer’s aquatic prowess, requiring mastery of all four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.

“Billy is the most dedicated member of the boys swim team, training all year long and working hard to become a stronger swimmer each and every practice, EPCHS Swimming Head Coach Sarah Marshall said, who nominated Gircus. “Billy started off great with a 2nd place finish in the first invitational of the season. He was 2nd overall out of 36 total swimmers, medaling in every event he swam and winning the 200 IM. We expect big things to come for Billy this season.”
