On His Game: Evergreen Park's Omar Alvarez Steps Into Leadership Role
Evergreen Park junior soccer midfielder Omar Alvarez was named a captain in his third season playing with the Mustangs' varsity unit.
Evergreen Park boys soccer coach Jim Smith didn't have to think about one of his captains picks very long, even if the player wasn't a senior.
In his third year on the varsity, junior Omar Alvarez is leading Evergreen Park with his play during games and during practice.
"He has phenomenal ball control and is a great leader," Smith said. "He was an obvious choice for captain, as he distributes the ball well, and keeps the Mustangs organized."
