EP Recreation Department Presents First Ever 'Leprechaun Leap' 5K Run/Walk
The family-friendly 5K welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and participants of all ages and abilities, Saturday, March 21, at Klein Park.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL – Leprechauns will leap at the first-ever “Leprechaun Leap 5K Run and Walk,” Saturday, March 21. The 5K takes off at 10 a.m. at Klein (Circle) Park at 97th Street and Homan Avenue, Evergreen Park.
Presented by the Evergreen Park Recreation Department, the race will take participants through the beautiful tree-lined streets of the southwest quadrant, beginning and ending at Klein (Circle) Park.
This family-friendly 5K welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and participants of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re chasing a personal record or just enjoying a scenic walk with friends, this event is all about celebrating health, community spirit, and St. Patrick’s Day fun.
Following the race, participants and families will enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Hamilton B. Maher Community Center, 3450 W. 97th St., featuring music, refreshments and activities, including food vendors from Rojo Verde Antojitos Mexicanos and Barraco’s Pizza.

“I’m thrilled to kick off the first ever Leprechaun Leap in the Village,” Mayor Kelly Burke said in a news release. “I hope this will become a new tradition that brings together our community in celebration of fitness, friendship, and a little Irish luck.”
Registration is now open. The fee to participate is $34.09. Race Day gear and packet pick-up will take place on March 19 and March 20 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the Community Center. Participants registered after March 16 are not guaranteed a race shirt.
