Report: Evergreen Park Area Commuters Face Worst Traffic Delays In Nation

A report released by the Texas Transportation Institute suggests that the Chicago area is tied for first place in the country when it comes to worst traffic delays.

Evergreen Park commuters might not be surprised to hear that Chicago is tied with Washington D.C. as the most congested urban area in the country, according to a report released by the Texas Transportation Institute.

The report indicates that, in 2009, commuters spent 372,755,000 hours waiting in traffic delays, consuming 276,883,000 excess gallons of gas.

To a commuter from Evergreen Park, this translates to as much as 70 hours per year spent waiting in traffic. That congestion also is responsible for setting the average commuter back about $1,500 per year.

The news isn’t all bad though. While the increased delays have an effect on commuters’ time and wallets, the authors of the report suggest such high numbers might also be evidence of increasing economic prosperity.
