Rubber Ducks Race Sunday in Derby to Benefit Special Olympics Chicago
Racing rubber ducks can be adopted for $5 each at the event or before Sept. 28 at the Advanced Eye Care Professionals office.

A special derby this weekend aims to raise money for a good cause, but there won’t be speedy horses, colliding cars or rollerskating women at Mt. Greenwood Park in Chicago on Sunday (Sept 28).
The fifth annual Rubber Duckie Derby pits plastic poultry against one another in races to benefit Special Olympics Chicago.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it is sponsored by Advanced Eye Care Professionals in Oak Lawn, according to a news release.
Racing rubber ducks can be adopted for $5 each at the event or before Sept. 28 at the Advanced Eye Care Professionals office. Adopted ducks compete in the derby race at noon, and every $5 donation benefits Special Olympics Chicago.
The two fastest ducks will advance to a final round, and the winner will be awarded a WiiU.
The event also includes face painters, carnival games, prizes and pictures with AEP’s rubber duck mascot.
“Special Olympics Chicago is an organization that is close to my heart and the staff of AEP,” said Casey Hogan, doctor and owner of Advanced Eye Care Professionals. “This is our way of giving back to an organization that positively impacts the lives of thousands of athletes in the Chicago area. It is also a fun day for the entire family, especially kids who get so excited watching their rubber duckie race against others.”
Mt. Greenwood Park is located at 3724 West 111th St. in Chicago, IL.
