Chicago Open Air Takes ‘Hiatus’ in 2018
After two head banging years, heavy metal music festival says its taking a "hiatus" in 2018 because it cannot produce a show fans deserve.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- After two years of head banging in Bridgeview’s Toyota Park, the Chicago Open Air heavy metal music fest is taking a hiatus in 2018. The festival drew thousands of Chicago-area music fans and offered such attractions as a Gourmet Man Food tent and a craft beer tent.
Produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, Chicago Open Air debuted in 2016 and was anchored by headliners Slipknot, Chicago’s Disturbed and the German rock band Rammstein. In 2017, more iconic headliners KISS, KORN and Ozzy Osbourne were added to the lineup.
The festival announced the 2018 hiatus late Friday to “friends and fellow head bangers” stating that the Chicago Open air “cannot bring you the caliber event you deserve.”
