Home Health Care Aide Steals $7,720 From Elderly Blind Man: Cops
Stickney woman stole 22 checks from elderly client and deposited $7,720 in her own bank account to pay bills and rent, prosecutors said.

COUNTRYSIDE, IL -- A home healthcare worker was arrested after she allegedly forged checks to steal money from an 82-year-old client. Kristin Kamberos, 31, of Stickney, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of financial exploitation of an elderly/disabled person.
The prosecutor said Kamberos worked for a home healthcare agency. In August 2017, she was hired to take care of an 82-year-old blind man. Between March 8 and April 23, 2018, Kamberos allegedly deposited 22 of the victim’s personal checks in the amount of $7,720 into her own personal bank account. The elderly man’s son noticed the missing funds and contacted police.
Kamberos told police she made the checks out to herself so she could pay rent and bills, the prosecutor said. She was arrested on Aug. 29. Kamberos has no prior criminal background. The assistant public defender said Kamberos is now working as a Jimmy John’s delivery driver. Felice set a cash bond of $7,720.

“Somebody’s out $7,000,” Felice said. “That’s what you allegedly took, and that’s what you should come up with.”
Kamberos is due back in court Sept. 25.
