UPDATED: Security Guard Fires Shots at Fleeing Bank Robber: Cops
Police say man robbed First National Bank of Evergreen Park on Friday morning. Guard shot at him when he ignored orders to stop.

Updated, 5:13 p.m. Dec. 11 -- EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- The suspect in Friday’s Evergreen Park bank robbery appears to be linked to several others in the Chicago area, according to the FBI-run website BanditTrackerChicago.
The FBI says that an African-American male entered the First National Bank of Evergreen Park, 3960 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park, around 11:50 a.m. in what is being described as a non-takeover robbery. The suspect did not display a weapon.

An armed bank security guard fired his gun at the suspect as he fled the bank.
Police said there were no injuries. The bandit was last seen jumping into an unoccupied car parked in the Jewel Food Store lot across the street the bank at 9425 S. Pulaski Road.

In addition to Friday’s bank robbery in Evergreen Park, the alleged bandit is a suspect in the following robberies:
- Byline Bank, 4658 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, July 1, 2015, 12:06 p.m.
- Byline Bank. 4050 S. Archer Ave., Chicago, IL, Sept. 14, 2015, 11:50 a.m.
- Chase Bank. 8340 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, IL. Sept. 29, 2015, 10:30 a.m.
- Chase Bank. 11721 S Halsted St., Chicago, IL, Oct. 23, Oct. 23, 2015, 10:55 a.m.
Attempted Bank Robbery:
- Bank of America. 5601 S. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, IL, Oct. 21, 2015, 11:15 a.m.
The purported bandit is described as a male black is his late thirties to early forties, approximately 5-feet-10-inches tall, and weighing 200 to 220 pounds. He’s been known to wear dark sweats, a Bears hoodie, and a black and white bandana over his face.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery is asked to call the FBI’s Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
Original story -- EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- A security guard discharged his weapon at a man after he had robbed an Evergreen Park bank late Friday morning, police said.
Evergreen Park police responded to a report of an armed robbery at First National Bank of Evergreen Park, 3960 W. 95th St.
Bank employees said the bank had just been robbed by an African-American male, who entered the bank around 11:59 a.m. and demanded money, according to a police news release.
Police said the suspect did not display a weapon and left the bank with an unknown amount of cash.
As the alleged bandit left the bank, he was followed by a security guard, who ordered him to stop. When the suspect disobeyed the order, the security guard fired his weapon. No one was injured.
The robber proceeded across Pulaski Road into the parking lot of Jewel Food store, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, and entered an unoccupied vehicle.
Police said the suspect was last seen driving northbound on Pulaski Road.
The FBI was notified and is now handling the investigation.
