Shopping Local: A Taste of Italy in Evergreen Park

On a journey to shop local and try new things in Evergreen Park, your Patch editor shares her new discoveries. This week, Renita Young drops by Cavatappi.

The adventure of local shopping and "keeping the green in Evergreen" continues today with food!

Last week on my way home, I had a taste for pizza, so called in my order to Cavatappi Restaurant, 3020 W. 95th St.

Co-owned by Bill Mulchrone and Potito Conza, Cavatappi has a variety of delectable Italian fare and a wine shop. The business recently celebrated its year anniversary in the village.

My specialty thin crust pizza--grilled chicken and spinach--was made to order and was delicious. Those who dine in can take advantage of the calm, romantic ambiance with dimmed lighting and if they'd like, visit the bar area off to the side.

Want to see how they make your pizza? Cavatappi's open brick oven is right inside of the dining area, free for everyone to see the process.

Cavatappi hosts several community events in the village, including a movie night on Tuesdays, bi-weekly free wine tasting on Wednesdays, and live music on Fridays. For frequent updates on these events and more, visit Cavatappi's Facebook Page.
