The Evergreen Park Athletic Association had a remarkable 2011 season: Fourth place in state for the 11/12-year-old team; second place in Section 3 for the 13/14-year-old squad; a District 8 championship for both the 10/11-year-od team and the 7/8-year-old squad. Patch was on hand when the 11/12 All-Stars played Jackie Robinson West in the opener of the double-elimination Section 3 tournament at Norris Field. Jackie Robinson West earned a 12-2 victory in that game. "We knew we'd have our hands full," Evergreen Park coach John Altman said. But Altman applauded his players afterward. "They fought hard from the first pitch to the last," he said. Check out the accompanying photo gallery from that game.
