Students from EPCHS Observe Live Open-Heart Surgery
During the procedure, students were able to ask questions and discuss the roles and responsibilities of each member of the surgical team.

EPCHS teachers Mr. Knapik and Ms. Hyland recently took 18 students from Anatomy & Physiology to observe a live open-heart surgery at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. During the procedure, the students were able to ask questions and discuss the roles and responsibilities of each member of the surgical team. Students were also informed about various jobs in the medical field, including educational needs for each position and potential job growth.
At the end of the day, students participated in a discussion with Christ Hospital staff about healthy living. They also discussed preventative measures to avoid health complications as they transition to adulthood.
