EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Village of Evergreen Park is embarking on its fifth year of collecting personal care items for Edward J. Hines VA Hospital to be distributed to homeless veterans.
Donated items can be dropped off at the Evergreen Park Community Center, 3450 W. 97th St., throughout the month of October. In addition, an in-person collection drive will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26. Items will be delivered to the Hines VA Medical Center.
When in need, veterans can shower, wash their clothes, collect food from the pantry and obtain available clothing, jackets, and personal care items from the Hines VA facility. Organizers are collecting basic toiletries and cleaning supplies to donate to veterans experiencing homelessness.

Hines VA hospital serves veterans as far north as the Illinois/Wisconsin border, suburban Cook County, and Kane, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kendall, Dekalb and occasionally Kankakee, Central and LaSale counties. Unfortunately, there is a high veteran homeless population in these areas. Veterans depend on Hines VA to provide them with many basic necessities.
