Your attitude toward hearing care can affect your overall health. That’s one of the topics the audiology team of Sertoma Speech and Hearing Centers in Palos Hills, IL explored at the Revolution for the Senses conference held in Orlando, February 27 – March 1. More than 1100 leading hearing care professionals from across the US participated in the national conference that focused on sound and its impact on health, well-being and productivity.
“Numerous studies tell us that untreated hearing loss can lead to isolation, depression, anxiety and frustration,” explains Dr. Michelle Morrison, Executive Director. “We know that good hearing is important to maintaining quality of life, including healthy cognitive function. Researchers have also shown a correlation between hearing health and cardiovascular disease.”
The upsides of regular hearing care are obvious. And when hearing loss is detected, there are many modern, discreet hearing solutions available – far more than even 10 years ago. Today’s hearing solutions feature innovative sound processing that make it easier to join in conversation and enjoy the world of sounds around us.

“Research from the National Council on Aging demonstrates that when people address their hearing loss, the improvements in social, emotional, psychological, and physical well-being can be impressive,” adds Dr. Tom Wardzala. “With such life-altering potential, it just makes good sense for people to make hearing care part of their regular health check-ups.”
