Evergreen Park's 'Dickens Christmas' Schedule of Events

Step into the 19th century at Evergreen Park's annual 'A Dickens Christmas,' Saturday, Dec. 4, at Klein (Circle) Park.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Take a step back into the 19th century when "A Dickens Christmas" returns to Evergreen Park from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The festive holiday celebration will be held in Klein (Circle) Park, at 97th Street and Homan Avenue.

Nothing personifies Christmas more than Charles Dickens to get people in the holiday mood and build up little ones' excitement for the big day. A Dickens Christmas features strolling madrigals, family crafts, hot cocoa, face painting, trolley rides, Christmas train MORE. The Jolly Old Elf — Santa — is also expected to drop by and listen to children's wishes.

It won’t be Christmas in Evergreen Park without the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. The event is free and visitors can get warm in the community center where some activities will be held.

Dickens Christmas Schedule of Activities, Saturday, Dec. 4

2 to 5 p.m. - Santa visits outside
2 to 5 p.m. - Face painting in small white tent
2 p.m. until gone - Cookie decorating and cocoa in big white tent
2 p.m. until gone - Family craft in small white tent
2 to 5 p.m. - Youth department will be selling hot dogs in the auditorium
2 to 5 p.m. - Tone Capone Taco truck outside
2 to 5 p.m. - Various crafters in auditorium
2 to 5 p.m. - Holly Trolley rides around the park
2 to 5 p.m. - Obstacle course outside
2 to 5 p.m. - Polar Express train rides outside
2:30 to 3:30 p.m. - Double Nickle Chorus performs in the auditorium
3:30 to 4 p.m. - Parkettes perform in the auditorium
5 to 5:30 p.m. - Those Funny Little People
6 to 6:30 p.m. - EPCHS Madrigals perform at Christmas tree lighting
6 p.m. - Mayor Kelly Burke’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony benefitting Village Pantry Coalition
