Forest Park police reports, July 23-27

SATURDAY, JULY 27

Warrant Arrest

Police charged Edward Gonzalez, 44, of Berwyn with a warrant out of Cook County for a probation violation for burglary.

Police said Gonzalez and his 26-year-old son were arguing with other patrons at Doc Ryan's around 2:15 a.m. Gonzalez's son told police a woman in the bar had kicked him after he told her she was beautiful, and that he didn't think he had done anything wrong. Gonzalez was processed on the warrant. His son was released from the scene, police said. 

Bike Stolen at CTA Station

Someone stole a man's bike, worth $200 to $300, from the rack at the CTA blue line station in Forest Park around 3:30 a.m. 

THURSDAY, JULY 25

Drunk Acting "Disrespectfully" at Restaurant

Police charged Christopher Jackson, 33, of Chicago with obstruction after he was asked to leave Hibachi Grill, 7610 Roosevelt Rd. around 4:30 p.m.

Police said at least three people reported Jackson, who appeared drunk, had been acting disrespectfully. Jackson was confrontational and refused to keep his pants on at the station, police said. He was processed, given a Sept. 10 court date and held on bond. 

DUI

Police charged Marvin Jones, 63, of Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol, open alcohol, driving without insurance, improper lane usage, failure to signal and a seatbelt violation around 6:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Des Plaines Avenue.

Police said Jones had a flask in his center console, and told police he had a bad hip when they asked him to perform a sobriety test. His blood alcohol content was .194, police said. He was processed, given an Aug. 13 court date and released on bond. 

Bike Stolen at Library

Someone stole a girl's bike from the rack outside the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., between 6:40 and 6:50 p.m. 

Suspended License Arrest

Police charged Marcantony Bornfree, 33, of Forest Park with driving on a suspended license and traffic violations around 3 a.m. in the 400 block of Hannah Street. He was processed and released on bond. 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

Public Urination Arrests

Police charged Michael Tischauser, 29, of Oak Park and Papo Lopez, 34, of Cicero with public urination in the doorway of Pet's Emporium, 7638 Madison St. 

Police said they saw the guys standing in a "familiar stance," urinating in the doorway of the business around 1:45 a.m., next to Mugsy's Tavern—where they'd been drinking that night. They were given citations, a Sept. 4 court date and released. 

Aggravated Assault, Illegal Weapon Use

Police charged Timothy Kelly, 21, of Bellwood with defacing a firearm, a seatbelt violation, aggravated assault, resisting an officer and illegal weapon use. 

Police said when an officer on bike patrol tried to stop Kelly for a seatbelt violation in the 7700 block of Madison Street around 5 p.m., Kelly refused. When Kelly stopped after a brief chase, he violently opened his door, hitting the officer in the chest, then started swinging at his head, police said. 

Police found a black handgun with the serial number scratched off in the front seat of Kelly's car. Kelly's girlfriend, who was also in the car at the time of the arrest, told police he bought the gun when a co-worker was robbed. Kelly was processed, given an Aug. 1 court date and held for bond hearings. 

TUESDAY, JULY 23

Suspended License Arrest

Cindella Watts, 22, of Maywood was arrested for driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance. Police stopped Watts near the intersection of Madison Street and Des Plaines Avenue around 2 a.m. because she was driving a car that had been reported stolen in Chicago. Police said the car had been returned to its owner, but not updated as recovered in police records. Watts was released on bond and given a Sept. 3 court date. 

Man Cited for Playing Loud Music

Jonathan Webb, 25, of Bellwood was given a local ordinance citation for playing loud music in his car in the 200 block of Des Plaines Avenue around 7:45 p.m.

Homeless Man Steals Bike

A man stole a 12-year-old boy's BMX-style bike from the rack outside the Forest Park Public Library. Police said library security footage showed the man taking the bike around noon. Police found the man who took the bike in the 700 block of Des Plaines Avenue. The man told police he stole the bike because he was homeless and needed to get to the west side of Chicago, police said. The kid got his bike back and the man was not charged, police said. 

Battery, Loud Music Arrest

Jamie Sherman, 20, of Chicago was arrested for obstructing justice, battery and playing loud music around 4:30 p.m.

Police said Sherman drove away from an officer on bike patrol who tried to stop her for playing loud music in her car in the 7400 block of Madison Street.

When stopped at a traffic stop at Elgin Avenue, police said Sherman refused to get out of the car, prompting the officer to physically pull her out. Police said Sherman also violently pulled away from the officer and verbally harassed him. She was processed, given a Sept. 10 court date and released on bond. 

MONDAY, JULY 22

Marijuana Possession

  • Police charged David Williams, 32, of Maywood with marijuana possession around 4:15 p.m. During a traffic stop near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Roosevelt Road, police found two bags of marijuana in Williams' sock. He was given a citation for marijuana possession, a Sept. 4 court date and released. 
  • Seamus Kobayashi, 30, of River Forest was arrested for marijuana possession around 4:30 p.m. During a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation in the 7700 block of Madison Street, police found about nine grams of pot in his pocket, police said. He was given a citation and court date and released from the scene. 

Retail Theft Arrests

  • Ann Welsh, 44, of Cicero was arrested for retail theft after she took about $15 in merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave., around 5:15 p.m. She was given a local ordinance citation and an Aug. 21 court date and released from the scene. 
  • Police charged Giacomo Ruffalo, 33, of Chicago with retail theft around 11 a.m. at K-Mart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd. A store employee told police he saw Ruffalo take two cordless drills, worth about $100, and leave without paying. He was processed for a misdemeanor count of retail theft, given a Sept. 3 court date and released on bond. 
  • Police charged Adam Dolatowski, 30, of Berwyn with retail theft around 2:40 p.m. at K-Mart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd. A store employee told police he saw a woman put a DVD player from a display into a bag and give it to Dolatowski, who left the store without paying, police said. He was given a local ordinance citation for retail theft and an Aug. 21 court date. 

Burglary Attempt

Someone pried open the window of a 2003 Dodge Caravan parked at the intersection of Madison Street and Circle Avenue around 1 a.m. and took the ignition. The car owner told police nothing appeared to be missing.
