2 Cars Stolen in Forest Park: Police Blotter

Forest Park police reports, April 29 to May 5.

SUNDAY, MAY 5

Lawn Chairs Taken

Four cast iron lawn chairs were stolen from a home in the 300 block of Circle Avenue in Forest Park between April 28 and April 30. The remaining two chairs were stolen on May 1 and May 5. 

Vehicle Theft

A black Samsung Galaxy I phone and a 16gb silver iPod shuffle were stolen from a convertible that was parked with its top down in the parking lot of 1520 Hannah Ave. in Forest Park.

SATURDAY, MAY 4

Walmart Thefts

Deavin L. Martin, 18, of Broadview, was cited with a local ordinance violation for retail theft after police were called to Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave. in Forest Park. store security said Martin was seen hiding merchandise in his jacket, with the total loss being $60.96.

Maritza Pineiro, 46, of Melrose Park, and N. Baez, 27, of Berwyn, were cited for retail theft at Walmart. Store security said they took $98 and $56 of merchandise, respectively. 

Man Flees on Stolen Bike

A woman called police and said a man stole a blue 10-speed Denali bike from her garage and rode away on it in the 1000 block of Harlem Avenue. The man is described as black, mid-40s, tall with a large build and wearing a black wind breaker. 

FRIDAY, MAY 3

Catalytic Converter Stolen

A catalytic converter was removed from a car parked in a lot in the 7600 block of Van Buren between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

THURSDAY, MAY 2

Car Stolen

A green 1985 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from a parking lot in the 1100 block of Hannah Avenue in Forest Park. 

TUESDAY, APRIL 30

Vodka Theft

Joel Lee Sr., 48, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after police were called to CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. in Forest Park. Police stopped Lee in the parking lot and found two bottles of Absolut vodka in his waistband. Felony charges were approved because of prior retail theft convictions. 

Car Stolen

A maroon 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass was stolen from the Walmart parking lot, 1300 Des Plaines Ave. in Forest Park. Video suveillance from the store showed two men follow the victim into the store, then follow her out. 

The victim returned to the store to get a few more items, and at that time a black SUV was seen pulling next to her car. One man got out, entered the victim's car and followed the SUV onto Roosevelt Road. 

Police described the offenders as black men between 20 and 30 and both with stocky builds. One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, and the other was wearing blue jeans and a white short-sleeve shirt. 

MONDAY, APRIL 29

72 MPH in a 30 Zone

Emilio Abasta, 29, of Berwyn, was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended/revoked license. Police clocked him going 72 mph in a 30-mph zone on Harlem Avenue. 

Suspended License for DUIs

Rutilio Galvan, 25, of Chicago, was charged with failure to wear a seat belt in Forest Park, and after stopping him, police discovered his license had been suspended for two previous DUI charges. Galvan was given a May 9 court date, and his car was seized by police.
