2013 Summer Fest Canceled in Forest Park

In a statement, the chamber said it's time to take a fresh look at how the festival operates.

The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce announced it will take a one-year sabbatical from the annual Summer Fest event, according to a chamber statement that appeared in the Forest Park Review. 

"It's time Summer Fest had a 'face lift," Executive Director Laurie Kokenes said in the statement. "As the chamber and the business community continues to grow, it just makes sense to take a fresh look at things."

Calls to Kokenes were not immediately returned.

Summer Fest, which brings thousands of people to Forest Park each year, featured live music, carnival games and more. 

In the statement, Kokenes said the chamber is looking for ways to make things more family-friends and increase exposure of members.

Besides the Summer Fest, the chamber also sponsors the , an annual golf outing, a holiday walk and more.
