Accused Drug Dealer Cries Armed Robbery: Police

Armed robbery victim's shaky story and phone records revealed he had planned a drug deal with the two men that took his money.

A man who said he was the victim of an armed robbery in Forest Park now faces charges for drug dealing, police said.

Police on Sunday, July 28 responded to a robbery call around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Harvard Street and Hannah Avenue, where Michael Sullivan, 18, of Elmhurst, told police two men robbed him and fled the scene.

Police stopped Reggional Williams, 21, of Naperville, in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue, and found about 105 grams of marijuana in the car and $126 in his pocket, police said. A juvenile who was with Williams told police a BB gun was involved in the incident and that it had been thrown from the car, police said.

Sullivan was charged with one count of marijuana delivery and one count of marijuana possession after he told police a story with shaky details that conflicted with Williams' and the kid's stories, which they supported with phone records, police said.

Sullivan's story

Sullivan told police Williams and the juvenile approached him and asked if he wanted to buy pot after he accidentally showed he had about $1,500 on him at the No Gloves softball tournament, police said. When Sullivan told them he'd buy about $10 worth, Williams said they should drive around to avoid cops in the area.

The transaction took a turn for the worse when Williams pulled a BB gun on Sullivan in the car, as he was counting his cash to pay for the pot, according to the story. Sullivan told police he grabbed the gun from Williams and pointed it at him and the kid as Williams grabbed the cash in Sullivan's lap, prompting a fight in the car, police said.

Sullivan then got out of the car and yelled that he'd been robbed.

Williams' and minor's story

Williams and the kid had a different story, though. They told police they called Sullivan to buy pot, and wanted to make him think they had more money than they actually had to increase the amount they could buy, police said. They told police they brought the gun to ensure their safety.

When the three men were in the car, police said Sullivan produced the bag of pot, but then became aggressive with Williams, prompting the kid to pull the gun.

Williams showed police his phone, which showed multiple calls between him and Sullivan.

Sullivan then told police he used to sell marijuana, and that a gang member associate of his called him to meet the kid and Williams to buy pot for him to sell in Elmhurst.

Sullivan was processed on one count of marijuana delivery and one count of marijuana possession. He was given an Aug. 15 court date and held on bond.

Williams and the kid were processed on one count of attempted theft by deception and released.
